Legacy Funerals is open at Orange under the Covid-19 Protection Framework. We must, however, operate under strict conditions. Please see below for details.
Know that you are not alone. Losing a loved one can be extremely difficult and challenging, possibly even more so if you have experienced bereavement and grief during COVID-19. At Red, there may be limitations that affect the way in which we honour those we’ve lost and, we may need to adapt traditions and adopt new ways of farewelling our loved ones. Whatever the restrictions, we are committed to helping you find innovative ways to connect with your loved ones.
You may make appointments to visit a loved one in our care so long as you/they are not unwell or, showing symptoms of Covid-19.
Farewelling your loved one
Funerals, tangihanga, burials can go ahead at Red. There can be up to 200 people in a single defined space at an indoor venue at any time. The limit includes children under 12, whānau pani and ringawera. There is no limit to how many people can be at an outdoor venue.
In regards to travel, you can commute anywhere within New Zealand to attend a funeral, tangihanga, burial or viewing.
Our Funeral Directors will utilise the use of web streaming technology to ensure those unable to attend in person, can view the service from the comfort of their own home.
Cremations and Burials
Cremations and burials will still take place. We have a crematorium onsite and, can communicate with your chosen cemetery regarding their burial guidelines under Red of the Covid-19 Protection Framework.
Burial at urupā
Whānau who live in the same region as their urupā may opt to have their loved one buried there. The person you’ve selected to liaise with the Funeral Director will also need to make the urupā arrangements themselves. Marae can assist with making these arrangements.
Indoors: Face coverings are mandatory indoors for all people at all Legacy Funerals premises - Tauranga Park, Woodhill and Legacy Gardens.
Outdoors: Face coverings do not need to be worn in an outdoor setting.
Cleaning and Sanitising
Before and after your visit we will ensure all touched objects and surfaces are cleaned and sanitised.
