COVID-19 Protection Framework - Orange: Information for Families

As an essential service, Legacy Funerals remains open at Orange under the new Covid-19 Protection Framework but we must continue to operate under strict conditions. Please see below for details.

Healthy Grieving
Know that you aren’t alone. These limitations will have an effect on the way we honour those we’ve lost but we are committed to helping you find innovative ways to connect with your loved ones.

Any person entering Legacy Funerals will be asked for their vaccine certification and will be asked to scan in. You may make appointments to visit a loved ones in our care so long as they are vaccinated, not unwell or are showing symptoms of Covid-19.

Whānau can travel anywhere within an orange region for a viewing, tangihanga, or burial. They do not need an exemption to do this. If whānau would like to travel from a red region, to attend a funeral or tangihanga in an orange region, they must be fully vaccinated and have their My Vaccine Pass with them, or must carry evidence of a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 72 hours before crossing the boundary. Please remember, if you are attending a funeral at one of our Legacy Funerals venues, you must show your My Vaccine Pass before entering our premises.

Farewelling your loved one
Legacy Funerals premises are currently operating as vaccine-certified only. If everyone has a My Vaccine Pass, there is no limit to the number of people who can attend funerals and tangihanga taking place.

Where My Vaccine Passports are not used, we can work with you to find an alternative venue, however there will be a limit of up to 50 people.

Physical distancing and public health measures must be maintained, with attendees keeping at least 1 metre apart where possible (apart from with people within their extended bubble). Our Funeral Directors will utilise the use of web streaming technology to ensure those unable to attend in person, can view the service from the safety of their own home.

Cremations and Burials
Cremations and burials will still take place. We have a crematorium onsite and, can communicate with your chosen cemetery regarding their burial guidelines under Orange in the new Covid-19 Protection Framework.

Burial at urupā
Whānau who live in the same region as their urupā may opt to have their loved one buried there. The person you’ve selected to liaise with the funeral director will also need to make the urupā arrangements themselves. Marae can assist with making these arrangements.

Face Coverings
Face coverings are mandatory for all people at all Legacy Funerals premises - Tauranga Park, Woodhill and Legacy Gardens.

Cleaning and Sanitising
Before and after your visit we will ensure all touched objects and surfaces are cleaned and sanitised. We will also complete a Cleaning Register after each visit.
