Driven by a longstanding desire to give something back to the people who had given him so much, and convinced that there were others who wanted to make a similar lasting gesture, Greg decided to literally give his business to the community. And so, Legacy Funerals and Legacy Trust officially came to be.
Purpose of the Trust
Legacy Trust is a registered charitable trust and the owner of Legacy Funerals. The Trust is responsible for the management of the business operations and the annual distribution of all profits from the business for the good of the local community. Each year, the Trust will make a full disclosure of fund distribution via this website (click here) and local newspapers.
Gregory Brownless - Trustee
Gregory Brownless is a Trustee of Legacy Trust. While he no longer receives a salary or benefit from the funeral business which he formerly owned, his family trust continues to own the Woodhill and Tauranga Park funeral home premises. In this way he will receive rental income during his lifetime and on his death it is intended that these properties will be gifted to The Acorn Foundation.
Bill Holland - Trustee
Bill Holland is a partner of local law firm Holland Beckett and he has had extensive community involvement including Tauranga Boys' College Board of Trustees (chairperson - 12 years), Tauranga Rotary Club (Paul Harris Fellow and past-president), YMCA (chairperson - 5 years), Tauranga Rowing Club (life member), Tauranga Old Boys' Rugby Club (secretary). He is currently a board member of Priority One and serves as a trustee on a number of community-based trusts including chairing the The Acorn Foundation.

The legacy that Greg has given, and the legacy of those who use Legacy Funerals will have far reaching and ongoing benefits for the local community.
