Peter received for completing the Ironman event. Gemma and Matthew both live with Cystic Fibrosis

On the 1st March 2008 Peter Tinholt reached his goal to complete the Ironman New Zealand event. By completing a 3.8km swim, a 180km cycle and a 42km run, he raised over $35,000 for Ironman New Zealand's official charity, the Cystic Fibrosis Association.

Following an article in the Bay of Plenty Times about Peter’s goals, Legacy Trust came forward in support of his efforts with a donation of $10,000.“I was gobsmacked” said Peter “I was lost for words. I’ll acknowledge a tear rolled down my cheek.”

Todd Wakerley, Chairperson of the Tauranga branch of the Cystic Fibrosis Association said “Peter’s fundraising, including the generous donation from Legacy Trust, represents three years worth of funding for the Tauranga region. It’s been scientifically proven that physical exercise is a key element in managing the disease and increasing life expectancy, and these funds will allow us to purchase equipment like bikes, trampolines and even baby walkers. It’s absolutely fantastic.”

CFF... says thank you to the families who chose Legacy Funerals.

You may already know that Legacy Funerals channels all its profits back into charities within the Tauranga community, via Legacy Trust. As the grants are distributed the recipients explain the impact the money has had on their charitable efforts:

"The money granted to Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand’s “Breath4CF” campaign has helped make Bay of Plenty families with a child with CF breathe a little easier. The grant was given to assist local kids with Cystic Fibrosis into physical activity through a small grant to each family to help with the costs of such things as; gym memberships, swimming lessons and even trumpet lessons. The Breath4CF fund gives all people with CF throughout NZ a small grant each year to encourage them to take part in activity that specifically keeps their lungs working and healthy as research shows this is the best way for people with CF to stay well. Thank you Legacy Trust!" - Kate Russell, Chief Executive, Cystic Fibrosis Association of N.Z.

Thank you to all the families who have chosen Legacy Funerals. The decision to use Legacy ensures the continued financial support for groups in our community. Making a Lasting Gift

All profits from Legacy Funerals are distributed by the Legacy Trust to local charities.  To date, the Legacy Trust has gifted over $500,000 to the local community - generosity that is only possible because of the choice that families have made in choosing Legacy Funerals.
